Joaquin Trujillo curates Homesick at the Carnegie Art Museum
This Saturday I am heading up to Oxnard, California for the opening of group show “Homesick”, curated by Joaquin Trujillo. Taking place at the Carnegie Art Museum, the show features the work of 15 artists working in all medias. Photographer friend of mine, Stephanie Halmos will be showing work in the exhibit along with Derick Melander, Kelly Reemtsen, and Livia Corona, who was recently awarded a Guggenheim fellowship for her project “Two million Homes for Mexico”. The opening is December 13th from 4-7pm while the show runs through February 21st. See more from this post »


Tomorrow night in Vancouver at Blim Gallery is the opening of Algonquin, a solo exhibition by Helen Eady. The gallery also has a limited edition t-shirt designed by Eady who happens to be featured in 22 Zine Issue 05. Be sure to stop by if you are in Vancouver. See more from this post »

Scion Presents: ‘EUPHORIA LEFT THE ROOM’ Preview from Scion ART on Vimeo.

Coming up at the Scion Space here in LA is a group show curated by Judith Schwarzbart –curator of the Copenhagen Quadrennial: U-TURN. The exhibition will highlight the lingering spirit of the 20th century’s visionary imagination in art and architecture and question if this same avant-garde thinking and visual experimentation are still at work in contemporary art practice. Opening November 21, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Scion Installation L.A. Space, 3521 Helms Ave. (at National), Culver City, CA 90232. The reception is free with complimentary valet parking and an open bar. Many artists will be present and available for comment. The exhibit will run until December 12, 2009.


Opening tonight in New York for a three day pop-up show are some of my personal favorite artists. ‘Go East’ presented by LeBasse Projects will feature some of the gallery’s best and brightest including Yoskay Yamamoto, Tessar Lo, Edwin Ushiro, Joao Ruas, Eric Fortune, Mia, and Nate Frizzell. The show is located at 42 Rivington St., New York, NY 10002 so stop by and check it out if you are in the area. An artist reception will be held the last night on Saturday November 7th, 7-11pm.
